Confidence is something everyone wants but only few seem to achieve. Personally I struggled with it a lot in my teenage years and every now and then have reoccurrences of low self-esteem. Sometimes I’m confident and other times I don’t want to get out of bed. It’s not like it’s a thing that changes daily but it does tend to change due to the environment or situation I’ve been put in. So here are my three main tips to being confident.
Number one: Appear confident. Have you ever heard of the phrase “fake it till you make it”? I kid you not, it bloody works. After days of believing you are a confident and capable person you will begin to believe your own lie. Look in the mirror and say “I am confident and nothing and no one can change that.” Just keep reminding yourself of that throughout the day. Also remember with appearing confident it is important to stand confidently, have good posture and maintain eye contact.
Number two: Just be yourself. There is no point in being confident with the person you pretend to be. You need to be confident with who you are as a person. Embrace your interests, spend some time alone to discover more about yourself and what you want to achieve in life.
Number three: Think positively. If you are always putting yourself down and being self-deprecating you will always be the same self-conscious person you have always been. Take on life with a glass half full perspective, it’s the best way to live.
